This week in 1984 during Super Bowl XVIII, the Los Angeles Raiders beat the Washington Redskins 38-9. The highlight of the game was Marcus Allen’s amazing 74-yard touchdown run. Allen was named the game’s MVP. Apple’s iconic 1984 commercial aired during this Super Bowl, it was directed by Ridley Scott and is considered one of the most effective commercials of all time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ErwS24cBZPc

A couple people reached out to me after I did my article on Movie quotes with some notables.

Tracy’s favorite movie is Moonstruck, and I caught hell for not mentioning it. There are so many great quotes and here are a few: old man, you give those dogs another piece of my food and I’m gonna kick you ‘til you’re dead! Why do men chase women? A man understands one day that his life is built on nothing, and that’s a bad, crazy day. You know, in time you’ll drop dead, and I’ll come to your funeral in a red dress! I lost my hand! From Tombstone, I’m your huckleberry - You’re a daisy if you do - You tell 'em I'm coming, and hell's coming with me! Only a few that I can mention from Blazing Saddles - What in the wide, wide world of sports is going on here? - Badges? We don’t need no stinkin’ badges! - Hey, where the white women at?

There are so many memorable lines in Animal House, timeless and too funny: Food fight! - Toga! Toga! - As of this moment, they’re on double secret probation. - You can’t spend your whole life worrying about your mistakes! You f*ed up, you trusted us. Otis my man, he loves us. Do you mind if we dance with your dates? Seven years of college down the drain. Is that a pledge pin on your lapel? My advice to you is to start drinking heavily. Thank you, sir! May I have another? Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life, son.

I’ve got more but will save some for a later “Just Thinkings”. I’ll finish todays with Captain Call’s eulogy in Lonesome Dove for his loyal and brave scout Deets that was killed while helping a blind young Indian boy- "Josh Deets. Served with me 30 years, fought in 21 engagements with the Comanche and Kiowa. Cheerful in all weathers. Never shirked a task. Splendid behavior.

A couple good games on Sunday I’m pulling for the Bills and Commanders, but really just hoping for just good games.
