The Sightline into San Francisco

  “Just Thinking” I was reflecting on how much the sightline into San Francisco changed over the years, thinking back on the view from the back seat of the family station wagon, so many things have changed and although many of my memories are fuzzy, some are quite clear, I did have to cheat a bit and search some stuff to see what I could find to bolster my recollection in some cases. One of my vivid memories is of the giant Mr. Peanut sign on top of the Planters Peanuts building; it also had little Mr. Peanuts on the parapet surrounding the building. When we saw Mr. Peanut, we knew that we were almost home, the factory was located at the intersection of Bayshore Boulevard and Paul Avenue which was one exit away from our house. The company closed the factory in 1976, and the following year, U-Haul took over the property, making it a moving and storage facility, which is still there today. Sports Is a Microcosm For Life

  “Just Thinking" This week’s “Just Thinking” is based on a line from two of my favorites, Mike Krukow and Duane Kuiper who were heard saying “well, hell just froze over” after Justin Verlander won his first game of the year and his first win as a Giant. Having gone winless in his first 16 starts and boasting a 0-8 record, he was not as bad as his record would have you believe, up until his last two starts, runs were hard to come by. His start against the A’s before the All Star break and the Blue Jays coming out of the break had me questioning weather or not he could come back, even in his 17 start, against the Braves he had a rough first inning, throwing 40 pitches and loading the bases, he was able to get out of it and settle down to chalk up the win. Up until this point Verlander’s greatest Giants moments were giving up 2 of Pablo Sandoval’s 3 home runs in game 1 of the 2012 World Series. Is Price the New Location?

Know how “location, location, location” has always been the number one priority (generally speaking) when it comes to buying a property? Well, according to a new Coldwell Banker survey, price is now more important for over half the surveyed consumers (56%), leaving location in second place (50%). Also, according to survey results, women (60%) are more likely than men (48%) to value a home’s price more than its location. But even with the stronger emphasis on affordability, 31% of consumers who bought a home last year (2023) bought their dream home. And among those planning to sell in the future, nearly two-thirds (66%) plan to relocate to a different city, state, or country. While many consumers made their dream home purchase last year, the data show that some desire to seek new horizons.
